Our History
Cool-tec was founded in 1984 and in the last 40 years, has built a rich history filled with exciting projects and growth.
With staff growth and technological developments, the company has adapted their offerings to provide a complete set of heating, ventilation and air conditioning services, as well as refrigeration and renewable energy heat pump solutions.
Humble Beginnings in Geoff’s Garage
In 1984, Geoff Osman and Barry Bryant came together to offer heating and cooling solutions to local businesses.
The two men started the business in Geoff’s garage in Poole, working day in and day out on designing and creating solutions.
Innovating for Army Radio Communications
While working in the garage, the company reached a milestone with one of Geoff’s designs.
In 1991, the Gulf War was ramping up, and many armed forces divisions were relying on radio communications.
Geoff designed and fabricated a cooling system for army radio communications trucks deployed to Kuwait during this war.
This would have been an incredible achievement for the company, but also for the war, as it facilitated communication throughout the war.
The Evolution of the Cool Tec Logo
As with any company, Cool-tec needed a logo, so the founders set about creating one.
When Geoff’s son was 11, he took the logo and redesigned it, adding the red to reflect the heating services being offered. This is the logo that is still used today.
Despite our company expansion, we have kept this logo for over 40 years because it has become a recognised brand across Dorset. Synonymous with quality heating, cooling and ventilation, the colours and angles depict what we do.
From Two to Thirty: National Presence
Having facilitated the Gulf War’s communication and continued to develop their offerings, Geoff and Barry expanded the company.
Having started as a team of two, we are now a team of over 30, working across the country to install and maintain air conditioning units, ventilation systems and refrigeration solutions.
Beyond Borders: European Ventures
More recently, we have expanded our operations even further, breaking beyond the borders of our country and providing solutions in Germany, France, Italy, and the Middle East.
Expertise Continued
We are proud of our story and are continuing to add to it as we keep developing and growing as a company and providing quality services.
Today, we are providing air conditioning, heating, ventilation and refrigeration solutions for a range of sectors.
In today’s society, health and safety are a priority, which is why we also expanded our offerings to provide F-Gas Regulation compliance checks.
